British Juggling Convention

I just received this email from the Nottingham BJC crew and thought I should share it with you, so you can decide if you want to go along or not. I have been to several BJC's and they are good fun and a great place to learn and progress. I have actually been to the site that this years convention is on when it was held there in 2007. It's a great site with lots of indoor and outdoor space.

This is a video to give a feel of what went on that year. I'm in the video for a couple of seconds in the parade (about 2 mins in behind the rainbow umbrella carrier, behind Jo, for those of you that know her)

Hi,

We are contacting you as you are named as a contact for your juggling club on The Internet Juggling Database (IJDB).

The 24th British juggling Convention (BJC) organising team from Nottingham would like to invite you and your club to undoubtedly the BIGGEST juggling event of the Year! If you haven’t heard of this event, the BJC is an annual juggling convention hosted by a juggling group in a different town or city every year in the UK, also attracting international guests and acts.

The convention is not just about juggling it embraces all mainstream circus related disciplines such as juggling, diabolo, devil stick, acrobalance, unicycling, poi swinging, staff, hat manipulation (to name but a few) alongside some slightly more obscure ones!

The event for 2011 will be hosted in Nottingham, Friday 15th to Thursday 21st April 2011 (the Easter half term for most schools) and will feature daily workshops, shows, events such as the British Young Juggler of the Year, the Balloon Modelling Convention, the juggling games (The BJC’s answer to the Olympics), Fire show, renegade stage and the spectacular Public Gala show alongside much more. It is a truly spectacular non-stop event that has something for everyone, whether juggling is your thing or if you are more of a ‘social’ juggler you won’t ever get bored! We have passion this year to keep all the usual BJC aspects that everyone looks forward to in addition to make it a real family friendly event, making sure that we cater for all ages!

The BJC is a great opportunity to swap skills, learn from world famous jugglers, meet new people or just soak up the atmosphere and make many new friends! We have Wes Peden, Stefan Sing, Jay Gilligan, Matt Hall to name but a few of the artists who will be performing and running masterclass workshops.

Even if you have just started or even never juggled before you will fit in just as well as those who have been juggling for years!!! There is no ability requirement and there will be plenty of workshops to ensure even the most inexperienced go home with plenty of new skills!!!

We are an experienced team, who were involved in running the 2007 British juggling convention and are confident that this year promises to be another event not to be missed! For much more detailed information and to book tickets visit http://www.bjc2011.co.uk. If you purchase tickets before the 28th February you can get them at a discounted rate!

We look forward to meeting you!!!

The Nottingham BJC 2011 Organising team
