Wiggletastic

Hello! I'm Lynne (AKA Skully, Captain Skulduggery Dug or Hyperloop Hoops), one of the 3 founders of Elephants Not Included. Cath, John and I started the club so that we would have somewhere to go and practice our skills under cover in the winter... we live in Wales and it rains quite a lot here. Our second aim was to encourage others to come and join us, so that we had people to bounce ideas off, spread the love of all things circusy and generally have fun with, because to us it is all about the joy of learning new skills and sharing those skills with other people.

I started poi spinning when I was 37 and learned a huge amount from the lovely community on Home of Poi. They were so welcoming and eager to help me learn that it filled me with a passion for wanting to share what they had taught me to others. It has also left me with a large group of life long very talented friends. A few years on from that I had the good fortune to meet the ever so lovely and very talented Caroline (AKA Molly) who reintroduced me to hula hoops. I had not picked one up since I was a young child. The hoops Caroline had were giant in comparison to the little plastic children's hoops. My love of hooping began aged 39. Due to the lack of being able to buy the adult sized hoops in the UK I started to make my own and everywhere I went with them people smiled at me and asked me if they could try them and if I could teach them some moves. I of course did that as teaching moves not only lets you spread the love of the wiggle, but it helps you to break the moves down in your own mind and teaches you a whole new way to look at how you hoop. After they had also caught the hooping bug, they would ask where to buy the hoops and Hyperloop Hoops was born. I have been hooping ever since, both learning and teaching.

Juggling is another thing I can do a bit of. I would say I'm a basic to middling juggler, but in all honesty I don't practice enough to ever become a fantastic juggler. I can do a number of 3 ball patterns and can keep 4 balls in the air for a while but my club juggling skills and my passing skills are fairly non-existent. I hope to put in more practice with the passing and the clubs over the coming months so I get better.

My aims for the near future are to learn some more poi and hoop moves, practice club passing and take up slack wire walking. I'll try to keep a record of how I'm doing here on the blog.
