Club Meeting 1st July 2010

Last nights club meet up was a huge amount of fun! We had a few new members come along last night and I believe lots of fun was had by all. There was a lot of unicycling, hooping, diabolo and staffing going on and the club passing was fantastic. At the end of the night we had a meeting to decide what we should do about space and about club funds. There were some great ideas put forward on how the club can progress and ideas for fun extra meet ups at weekends on the beach, at the swimming river/waterfall and a BBQ, so that members can get to know each other better, have fun in the sunshine and just generally spend more time playing.

The almost unanimous decision on funds was to save them for now and use the money to fund a bigger hall. It became very apparent last night with 18 members all together in the hall that more space really is needed. There were a few other suggestions of what to do with the money that were discussed and all those ideas have been noted down for future reference as many of them will be do-able in the future as the club grows.

The last thing that was discussed was what people would like to learn in the future and there was a lot of people saying they would like to learn slackwire. The lovely Catrin has kindly offered us the use of her slackwire, and if the weather is good next week she will bring it along and we will try to string it between the trees outside the hall, so if you want to try slackwire walking out come along. Other things people requested we do were acrobalance, capoeira, aerial work, such as trapeze, corde lisse and maybe themed evenings where we take out an hour or so of the meeting to all focus on one or to skills.

Thank you to all the members that were able to be part of the meeting. Your input was helpful and it opened my eyes to how much you people really want this club to move forward and grow. I will let you know what comes of the hall search when I get feedback from the people that are contacting the schools (Thank you Cath, Greg and Kathryn for offering to do that).

Ok Last thing I'll write today is that all of you members are more than welcome to become authors on this blog to keep record of your progress and fun you have. All you need to do is send me your email address and I can invite you to join the writing team.

See you all next Thursday!
