Plans for 2011

Hello everyone,

Last nights Elephants club meeting was great! I had a fantastic time. Thank you everyone that was there.

Peter, after being in London during the week, at workshops on stage fighting and clowning, gave us a mini lesson on stage fighting and is going to give us lessons on clowning/clowning games in the future. Thank you Peter! I think everyone got something out of what you showed us and judging by all the laughter had fun learning.

We were also approached by a lady, that happened to be in the PACT meeting in the other room, who asked if we minded having a small group of children, from the Bryncoch school, come along next week to watch what we do. As the children would be supervised by almost a 1-1 ratio of adults we decided that it would be ok, so they will be there to watch us next Thursday night. As Peter and James both have insurance that will cover the Children if they do wish to join in, we will be asking their supervisors if they can be allowed to do so.

We had a chat about what people in the club would like to do in 2011 and as not everyone was there I thought I better post up here what we discussed and offer you all the chance to have your say. Firstly Daniel M and Greg had a chat about drumming and they asked the rest of us if we would mind them having 1/2 hour - 1 hours time once in a while to do some drumming lessons in a corner of the hall or hire the room at the end of the building to do it in. The people present at the meeting agreed that it would be ok to do it in a corner of the hall or in the pool table room. If people are in agreeance, we could make it a regular monthly thing. Daniel M will sort out what day and bring some extra instruments along for anyone wanting to have a go and learn. We will let you know what day it will happen.

Secondly Southern Lights . For those of you that have no idea what Southern Lights is, it's a small circus arts festival, in Kimmeridge, Dorset (near Poole) that will be on 9th - 12th June this year. Cath and I have been going since it began and Daniel M and Kim went for the 1st time last year. There are only 499 tickets, so it is a small gathering. The days are filled with workshops that you can join in with, to learn new skills and the evenings have shows, bands, renegade and a fire show. It is up to each person how much they join in with, but the more you do, the more you tend to get out of it. If any of you want to come along, let me or Daniel know and we'll tell you when the tickets go on sale.

After chatting about Southern Lights it was evident that some people wouldn't be able to go to it, but would like to do something in the summer with the club, so we came up with a plan to spend a weekend/few days at the beach, probably down the Gower, as it is so beautiful and close. We have no firm details yet and would like to consult all of you on what dates you would most like to do this on, where and if people want to camp, or if you would prefer to spend the day/evening out and then go home again without camping. The beach we go to would need to be fairly close to the campsite (if we decide to camp) an it would be nice if we could have a campfire on the beach, so not a beach that is near lots of residences. Since the chat last night I also was wondering if we might invite other people along that aren't club members, such as the adults from the Circus eruption group, or members of the Monday night Circus club that James and I run. All these things can be discussed in the next couple of weeks at the evening meetings, so come along and have your say. You can also post ideas here in the comments section under this post.

We still haven't had much of a response from the Unicyclists as to which meeting of the month they want their regular 1 hour hall take over to be on. If the committee were to just pick one and set it up, would that be ok with everyone?

Finally if you have any ideas about what you would like the club to do this year please do let us know, so we can try and get it sorted out.

Have a fantastic week! I hope to see you all next Thursday evening.

Lynne
