What a fantastic evening that was. When I turned up at the hall it was raining and I was feeling horribly down. By the end of the 3 hours I was feeling uplifted and happy. I love our little circus club!
I started out with lots of good intentions of hooping all evening, and I did manage a good 1 - 1 1/2 hours of various types of hooping from arm hooping to splitting 3 hoops. I learned a new move, which involves elbow hooping 2 hoops, one on each arm, flicking the hoop on my right arm into the air, passing the hoop on my left arm elbow to elbow behind my back and catching the thrown hoop in my left hand. I managed to do the move 3 times in a row, after many attempts where I either lost the passed hoop or couldn't catch the thrown one... so as far as I'm concerned I've got it. I just need to make it more solid and reliable. I also practised some nice moves on and off body with twin hoops, before spending a little time splitting 3 of the 32" hoops. I'm still not fully adjusted to the size of these smaller hoops, but I'm getting there.
In between trying out the hoop moves I taught a bit of poi spinning and watched Peter teach people to do stage fighting, such as dragging someone around by their hair, punching them in the mouth and kicking them in the groin... all of course without inflicting any pain on one another.
All in all another great meeting up at the Elephants club. I'm so glad Cath John and I started it up. It has been a ray of sunshine in an otherwise rather grey, rainy, glum day.
