Elegance, Strength & Silks

Every time I see a video with the word "progress" in the title I want to take a look, and each time I do I always think, I wish I had videoed myself when I began poi spinning or hooping, so I could look back and watch the journey I have taken, from then to now. Kara Shriver has been doing that with her aerial silks training. I stumbled upon her latest video this morning.


Sadly I couldn't find any videos of her practice any further back than 2 months old, I might message her and ask her if she still has them and see if she would be willing to share them with us so we can see how, from the beginning to now, she has progressed.

It's easy to look at some of these videos and be amazed at the skills and sometimes say "I could never do that!", but you have to remember that everyone starts at the beginning with all the awkwardness and mistakes. Only with practice do any of us get better. It will take a lot of hard work to become as good as Kara, but the hard work comes with the fun and excitement along the way. Every drop, trip, bruise and bump is part of the learning process as is the exhilaration of when you nail a move or trick. Don't give up!
